Albuquerque Public Schools is proud to be hosting the upcoming Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) College 101 night, a free, bilingual (Spanish-English), workshop where students will receive valuable information about how to prepare, plan, and pay for a college education. https://www.hsf.net/college-101

This is the first time HSF is offering the session in New Mexico, so we are inviting students from surrounding school districts to attend.  College 101 targets Hispanic 9th and 10th graders, but juniors and seniors are more than welcome to attend.  Please feel free to forward this email to your counselors, dean of students or teachers. Participants can choose to receive information in either English or Spanish. Breakout session topics will include:

 *   Preparing and paying for college
 *   Applying for scholarships
 *   Researching additional financial aid

Registered guests who attend will be automatically entered to win a prize drawing!



FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid https://fafsa.gov/ This is the application you will use to apply for federal and state grants, work-study and loans. Also, some scholarships require you to have completed the FAFSA to be eligible. You do not have to have financial need for the scholarships, you just have to complete the application. NMSU Scholar Dollar$ Application Open Now https://fa.nmsu.edu/scholarships/scholar-dollar/Scholar Dollar$ is the singular online scholarship application and awarding system for New Mexico State University. Students from any campus can apply for all NMSU scholarships. Scholar Dollar$ is open from October 1st to March 1st of every year. Applicants are encouraged to apply early and annually. For Regents and Presidential you must submit a separate  scholarship application to be considered. For the Bridge and Scholars Scholarships, all students are considered based on admissions application, core GPA and ACT data. 

12/01/17 Deadline NMSU President’s Associates Excellence, Aggie Achiever, Hadley Honors and Crimson Success Scholarship Deadline https://admissions.nmsu.edu/scholarships/Student must be admitted and have completed Scholar Dollar$ application by this date.

CNM Fall 2018 admissions application will be available on Monday, December 11th.

New Student Orientation dates are now available for our summer session (see attached flyer). If you have seniors who will be attending in the summer after graduating, please let them know they can now register for a session by going to www.cnm.edu/nso.

All first-time, full-time college freshman are required to complete an in-person New Student Orientation before registering for classes.

Any seniors who plan to attend CNM in the fall and need to meet the orientation requirement for our Bridge Scholarship are also able to attend one of the summer sessions (with the exception of the SOAR session since they register for summer classes during this session).

USE EARLIER INCOME AND TAX INFORMATION: Beginning with the 2017–18 FAFSA, students will be required to report income and tax information from an earlier tax year. For example, on the 2017–18 FAFSA, students (and parents, as appropriate) will report their 2015 income and tax information, rather than their 2017 income and tax information.

Naviance is a GREAT resource for college and career planning! The RRHS Counseling Department strongly encourages students and parents to utilize it's many resources throughout high school! To review your student's Next Step Plan, please go to the "about me" tab, then proceed to "survey history" on left-hand side and click on "Next Step Plan" to review their current plan. Please remind your student of all Naviance has to offer, including free ACT prep which can be found on this welcome page on left side entitled "Naviance Test Prep."

How to login:

1. Go to http://www.naviance.com. Select sign-in then Students & Families Log In (located in top right hand corner). Type in school zip code of 87124. Select Rio Rancho High School. Then type in your username and password.   See Step 2.

2. Username ​= student ID number and Password ​= Student Date of birth (MMDDYYYY) Example​: April 2, 2001 enter 04022001
